Our research encompasses studies of analytical instrument design and environmental trace analysis. We are currently developing:
(a) methods to better understand the speciation, transport, and fate of heavy metals in soil using sequential extraction approaches with electrochemical (PSA) and spectroscopic (AAS) quantification
(b) sequential injection analysis integrated to multi-detector HPLC-CE for characterizing organic and inorganic anions in soil extracts
(c) GC-MS/MS methods (pyrolysis, SPME) for characterizing natural organic matter in soils, varnishes on museum objects, and flavors in consumer products
(d) remote in situ monitoring instruments that are based upon continuous flow analysis within forged microconduits
