Ms. Julie Cunningham

The 2009 ACS Teacher of the Year for the Milwaukee Section is Ms. Julie Cunningham from Lake Mills High School. Ms. Cunningham is a graduate of UW Madison and UW Oshkosh. Mr. Scott Sobol, Principal at Lake Mills, praised Julie?s ability to inspire and motivate students through the use of constructivist activities and differentiated activities. These activities involve technology in the classroom as well as laboratories completed at home. In addition to her strong performance in the classroom, Ms. Cunningham contributes professionally through her work with the Journal of Chemical Education. She was co-editor of the High School Activities Section for three years and continues to serve as an Outreach Volunteer. She has also presented at various state, regional and national conventions. Ms. Cunningham had previously been recognized as a Wisconsin Exemplary Science Teacher (1998) and with the Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award (2005).
