Present:
- Jackie Behnke, Katie Bichler, Mary Bishop, Bud Douthitt, Kevin Glaeske, Tom McLinn, Alan Thompson and Tom Thornton.
Minutes:- The minutes for the previous meeting were approved with minor additions.
Chair Remark:- Jackie mentioned that she had certificates (approx. 10) for 50 year members of the ACS and would hand them out at the September meeting in Port Washington.
Amalgamator:- Alan encouraged people to check out the section's web site (http://alcemy.chem.uwm.edu/amalgamator) especially for the pictures of the candidates. Alan was asked about getting the insignia off of the web site in order to produce some new letterhead for the section.
Treasurer:- Katie Bichler reported that we have $2315.18 in savings, $956.48 in checking and the two CDs ($6125.86 and $5298.24) would be coming due later in May. She was given the go ahead to put one of the CDs into savings and re-invest the other. Katie also stated that the money from National for the Gr. Lakes Regional meeting was put into a 24 month CD (beginning March 2000).
Project Seed:- Jackie reported that this project has four applicants including K. Miller (MATC) that had been approved by National.
Section Award Committee:- Bud Douthitt handed out a chronology for the local officers and encouraged us to look it over and provide any needed feedback. He also asked about whom was on the Milwaukee Section Award Committee. After some discussion, it was pointed out that the committee should have seven members serving (three classes of two people and either Chair or Chair-elect).
Chair-elect Remark:- Mary Bishop mentioned that Alverno College wants to host a meeting and a discussion ensued about possible sites for local meetings. Mary also pointed out that there is a list of speakers from the ACS.
Old Business:- Kudos to Tom for getting the Directory out for the section. He sent out about 1200 copies to members.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:42PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Kevin Glaeske
Secretary
