Tom Holme recapped the last National Chemistry Week. He mentioned that this year's theme involves Chemistry and Art. Ideas for the section involved painting murals at UWM, having a museum restorer talk about restoring art, and maybe having a exhibit of Aldrichimica Acta covers at City Hall. Tom also mentioned that there exists a need to get high schools involved in NCW.
Project Seed:
Jackie reported that the project was looking for mentors.
Amalgamator:
Alan reported that all the back issues were at the bindery. When completed, one set would be at Marquette (1952-present) and another set would be at UW-M (1946-present). The idea of an electronic Amalgamator was discussed at length. Advantages to this would include savings in printing and postage.

Tom reported on his meeting in San Antonio with other Chairperson elects. He said it was very useful and he was able to meet with other Chairmen from adjacent sections to line up some potential speakers.
Old Business:
Discussion centered on support of a TAG group within our section. It was decided to ask John Engelman for a proposal before the section would give any support in the form of a starter grant.
New Business:
Jackie reported that Chuck Wilke is chairing a committee for long range planning for the section. The committee is looking at a range of five years and topics of discussion include public outreach and what can be done to meet the needs of the section.

Tom reported that it would be probably 24 months between Directories. Things to keep in mind are does the directory need changes in format, advertising, and CD vs.booklet form. Tom said that Wes and he would keep it current and redo in December. Another thing to keep in mind was the need to account for this in the budget or consider getting a sponsor.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:37PM.

Respectfully submitted,
Kevin Glaeski
