AMERICAN CHEMICAL SOCIETY

MINUTES OF THE BOARD MEETING

March 7, 2000 at 6:15 P.M.
Todd Wehr Chemistry Bldg. - Marquette University
Present:
Jackie Behnke, Katie Bichler, Bud Douthitt, Mary Doyle, Kevin Glaeske, Dimitri Gorjestani, Alex Hill, Claudia Jordan, Tom McLinn, and Alan Thompson
Minutes:
The minutes for the previous meeting were approved with minor additions.
Amalgamator:
Alan reported that he has received a donation of old amalgamators (1953-present) from a former editor. He was given the ok to have the issues bound (at approx. $10.00 a binding). Chuck Wilkie has consented to hold the issues at Marquette.
Councilors:
Dimitri stated that the 1999 annual report is nearing completion. Everything is in place for M. McKinney to finish soon. Unfortunately, he and Tom Holmes would be representing our section at the national meeting in San Francisco, but neither can make the meeting. K. Glaeske said that he was going to be in San Francisco at the meeting and would represent the section
Treasurer:
Katie Bichler reported that we have $14,567.35 in savings, $1588.97 in checking and the two CDs have $6125.86 and $5298.24 in those accounts. The total savings include the money from National for the 1998 regional meeting. She was given the go ahead to put the savings into another CD.
Section Award Nominations:
Bud Douthitt reported that the nominees are selected for the Section Award and that only the paperwork remains.
Chair-elect Remark:
Mary Bishop reported on the San Antonio meeting. Most sections still use the dinner meeting format, but sections are encouraged to.
Old Business:
Alex Hill reported that the report is done for the 1998 Regional ACS meeting and that the section would be getting $9844.00 from National.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:42PM.

Respectfully submitted,
Kevin Glaeske
Secretary
